What situations in life bring you the most fear?
Our fears often result from a lack of control. We fear spiders because we cannot control them. We fear storms because we cannot control them. We fear dying because we cannot control it.
As Jesus approached execution on the roman cross, He was concerned about His followers having peace (John 14:27). He was looking forward to giving them His peace. He was preparing to die, and yet He had peace and was wanting His followers to experience that same peace.
And then, after Christ came back to life, He appeared to His followers and said, "Peace be with you!" He saw that they were scared and locked up in their homes, and He came proclaiming peace in the Lord, because He had conquered their greatest enemy. Death cannot harm us anymore, because Christ has overcome death in our place.
Jesus invites us in to His peace. It is life changing. It is eternal. It is found only in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
