1 Peter 5:1-5
God has established the leadership of the church to follow Him as they lead and serve the church. A typical term for this is "under-shepherd"; referring to the shepherds that follow the Chief Shepherd. They follow the Chief Shepherd by pursuing His character and by tending to the people of God like He did.
Even though this is never accomplished perfectly in churches, Scripture clearly presents the standard for Elders and for the church to follow. We can be thankful for God's sovereign plan and trusting in His oversight as we seek to execute it.
