Meet The Team
Steven Nauman, Jr.
Lead Pastor & Elder
Steven has been married to his wife Megan since September of 2006, and they have four children. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Biblical Studies and Philosophy, and Masters of Divinity in Christian Ministry from Southeastern Seminary. He began working in full-time ministry in 2006 and has been a part of the Elizabethton community since 2010. Steven has a passion for preaching the Word of God and for developing leaders within the church. He has served as the Family Pastor at Hunter since 2014, and as Lead Pastor since 2019. He loves spending time with his family, reading in his spare time, as well as any activity that takes him outdoors.
Dave Whaley
Worship Pastor & Elder
Dave convinced Jen to marry him in December of 2010 and they have two children. He has grown up at Hunter and served in various capacities of the music and family ministries since he was a teenager. Dave became the part-time Worship Pastor in 2012 and was ordained as Worship Pastor and Elder in 2014. Upon graduating from East Tennessee State University, Dave was involved with several high school and middle school band programs throughout the Tri-Cities. He is currently the Drumline Director at Milligan University. Dave’s passion is to lead scripturally focused, God-honoring corporate worship with the church.
Jon Barnett
Lay Pastor & Elder
Jon has been married to his wife Karen since June of 1985, and they have two children. He has served the church at Hunter in various lay positions since 1998. His passion is to see the church transformed by the continual renewing of their minds towards a closer walk with Christ through a vision for and an experience of the all-consuming, all-illuminating presence of God to His glory! Jon was ordained and commissioned as Lay Pastor and Elder in 2014.

Megan Nauman
Kids Ministry Director
Megan and Steven were married in 2006 after meeting at Southeastern Theological Seminary.They moved to Elizabethton in 2010. Megan has been on staff as the Kids Ministry Director since January 2020. The Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, English, and Secondary Education teaching degree that Megan received at the College of Southeastern equipped her for years of teaching the Bible, serving students in various areas of church ministry, and homeschooling her 4 kids. She is currently working on her Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling at Southeastern which she hopes will help her serve the church and community in discipleship.​
Heather Williams
Administrative Assistant
Heather grew up in Southern Arkansas and moved to East Tennessee in 1999. She has been married to her husband since 2001 and they have two children. Heather’s family has been a part of the community at Hunter First since 2015. She serves in our Student Ministry and on our Worship Team. Heather started using her skills on staff in July 2021, and her love for God and others is evident in the work that she does. Heather also enjoys meeting and ministering to Appalachian Trail hikers that pass through at Watauga Dam.

Aaron Bolt
Deacon
Aaron and his family moved from Michigan in 2013 to serve as full-time missionaries at Camp Ta-Pa-Win-Go in Watauga, TN. Aaron's serves as the Maintenance Director at camp. He helps maintain a safe place where kids can hear the gospel and know how much Jesus loves them. Aaron serves as a Deacon at Hunter, and also works part-time to keep our facilities clean and ready to use.
